The region of Bordeaux is located in Western France. It’s one of the world’s most famous and largest wine-producing regions.
Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, sauvignon blanc, and semillon are the most common grapes grown in the region. Most Bordeaux wines are blends.
Bordeaux’s appellations lie on both banks of the Garonne River. The right bank grows more merlot and the blends are merlot dominant. The left bank grows more cabernet sauvignon and the blends are more cabernet sauvignon heavy.
For the white blends, sauvignon blanc and semillon are blended. These grapes are grown throughout the region.
