Amarone, or Amarone della Valpolicella, is a red wine from the Veneto region of Italy. It’s a blend that is made from corvina, corvinone, rondinella, and sometimes other grapes.

To make Amarone, winemakers harvest the grapes and dry them into raisins. From here, the grapes are pressed and fermented on skins. This creates a wine that’s close to 16% alcohol and with high tannins.
