An aerator is a small device, usually only a few inches in length, that helps aerate wine. It works by circulating air through the wine when you’re pouring from the bottle or pouring into a decanter. When used with your decanter, an aerator helps speed up decanting times.

Aerators can be electric, such as the Aervana Original Electric Aerator, or fit on pieces, such as the Vintorio Wine Aerator Pourer. Some aerators have a built-in filter which traps sediment and removes it from your wine when you pour it.

Aerators are great to use with young red wines full of tannins or even some white wines, especially wines that have been reduced.
